Temple Tiferet Shalom is committed to providing accessibility to all, regardless of physical ability. The following examples are just some of the ways we provide this:

Building Access: Our main entrance has a wheelchair ramp with a very low grade. The

ramp is well-lit and equipped with handrails, ensuring ease of access for individuals

using wheelchairs or those with mobility challenges.

Door Hardware: All door knobs throughout the interior of the building have lever

handles. This accommodates individuals with weak grip strength or prosthetic limbs,

ensuring they can open doors independently.

Widened Doorways: Every doorway in the building complies with accessibility codes,

providing sufficient space for wheelchair passage.

Barriers Eliminated: Any step downs or lintels inside the building were removed,

allowing for seamless navigation, particularly for individuals in wheelchairs or those with

mobility aids.

Rails on the Bimah: We have handrails leading from the floor to the bimah and from

the bimah to the Ark. This assists those who require additional support for mobility on

the raised platform.

Elevator: A lift from the lobby of the main floor connects to the lower common area,

ensuring that people with mobility challenges have full access to both floors of the

building without the need for stairs.

Handicap Bathroom:The handicap bathroom meets accessibility standards, ensuring

it is fully functional for wheelchair users and others with mobility concerns. This includes

fixtures, sinks, and dispensers that are at an accessible height.

Emergency Equipment: All emergency items, such as fire alarms and extinguishers,

are at wheelchair-accessible heights. This ensures that individuals with mobility

impairments can respond to emergencies just as quickly and efficiently as all others.

Hallways: The hallways wide enough to ensure easy navigation for wheelchairs, with

enough width to accommodate turning and movement without obstruction.

Slip-resistant Flooring: All flooring throughout the main floor has slip-resistant material

that resembles carpet, but does not hinder wheelchairs or walkers. This surface

prevents slips while being functional for various mobility aids.

Water Fountain: Our water fountain/bottle filler is at an accessible height, ensuring

hydration is easily accessible for all building occupants.
